Facet joint injections are designed to reduce pain in the facet joints of the spine by targeted delivery of anesthetic and/or steroid medications directly to the joint. It is a minimally invasive treatment option for facet joint pain compared to spinal surgery.
Facet joint injections are performed on an outpatient basis, and in most cases, patients can return to their normal activities the next day. This is a therapeutic and diagnostic interventional intervention that can be performed under local anesthesia.
