Bacterial culture of a wound or skin (glans penis and foreskin) is a laboratory test that involves the collection of biological material from a wound or skin (including the glans penis and foreskin). The main goal is to identify microorganisms that can cause balanitis/balanoposthitis or similar inflammatory conditions.
The examination excludes the assessment of the qualitative and quantitative composition of the microflora - the detection of aerobic opportunistic bacteria and fungi of the genus Candida spp. to determine the sensitivity of microorganisms to antibiotics and antimycotics, which allows the doctor to prescribe effective and rational therapy.
Candida albicans is often detected in patients with balanoposthitis, so the culture necessarily includes testing for fungi of the genus Candida spp.
