The International Normalized Ratio (INR) is a method of expressing the results of a prothrombin time test recommended by the WHO to unify the results obtained when measuring prothrombin time, taking into account the activity of the thromboplastin used in the laboratory (which may have different sensitivities). The international normalized ratio is used to monitor therapy with indirect anticoagulants.
