MRI of the male pelvic organs with contrast enhancement
During the examination, a magnetic resonance scan of the male pelvic organs is performed using a contrast agent to improve the image and identify possible pathologies.
Indications for the procedure:
- Formations or foci in the urinary bladder.
- Pathologies in the prostate gland.
- Disorders in the pelvic organs, retroperitoneal space.
- Fluid accumulation in the pelvis or retroperitoneal space.
Duration of the service: 40 minutes, performed by a radiologist and an X-ray technician.
Preparation for the examination
No special preparation is required, but it is worth following the following recommendations:
- Wear comfortable underwear made of natural materials.
- Do not wear jewelry or costume jewelry.
- Limit the use of cosmetics on the face (some types of mascara may cause image distortion).
- If necessary, for the administration of a contrast agent, 20 minutes before the examination, you should contact the reception for the placement of a venous catheter.
Contraindications:
- The presence of pacemakers, ferromagnetic clips, large fragments located near large vessels or important organs in the body. The presence of fragments is a relative contraindication, so the patient should discuss the possibility of undergoing the examination with a radiologist.
- Patients with severe forms of claustrophobia may require sedation for the examination.
- First trimester of pregnancy.
When making a scheduled visit, be at the reception of the department 20 minutes before the examination for the placement of a venous catheter.
The results of the examination (description, film on demand, recording on an optical medium) are issued after 6 hours. In complex cases, the period may be extended to 24 hours.
