MRI of the scrotum, male external genitalia with contrast enhancement

The service is provided exclusively by appointment of a specialist.

During the examination, a magnetic resonance scan of the scrotum and external genitalia of a man is performed using contrast enhancement for a more detailed study of the tissues and the detection of possible pathologies.

Indications for the procedure:

• Formations and foci in the scrotum and external genitalia.
• Accumulation of fluid in the scrotum.

Duration of the procedure: 40 minutes. The examination is performed by a radiologist and an X-ray laboratory technician.

Preparation for the examination:

No special preparation is required, but it is worth following the following recommendations:

• Wear comfortable underwear made of natural materials.
• Do not wear jewelry or costume jewelry.
• Limit the use of cosmetics on the face, as some types of mascara can cause image distortion.

Contraindications:

• Presence of metal implants or devices that may interfere with the magnetic field (e.g. pacemakers, ferromagnetic clips).
• Presence of large fragments located close to large vessels or important organs. The presence of fragments is a relative contraindication, so it is necessary to discuss the possibility of undergoing the study with a radiologist.
• Patients with severe forms of claustrophobia may require sedation.

Age restrictions: the service is available to patients of any age.

For a scheduled visit, be at the reception of the department 20 minutes before the study for the placement of a venous catheter.

The results (description, film on demand, recording on optical media) are issued after 6 hours. In complex cases, the term may be extended to 24 hours.
