MRI of the elbow joint
The service is provided exclusively by appointment of a specialist.
During it, an MRI examination of the elbow joint is performed.
Indications for the procedure:
- degenerative changes in the elbow joint;
- post-traumatic changes and old injuries;
- pain in the hand or wrist;
- suspected tumors or other soft tissue pathologies;
- damage to cartilage or other joint structures;
- the presence of loose bodies in the joint;
- damage to ligaments and tendons.
Duration of the procedure: 20 minutes, the examination is performed by a radiologist and an X-ray technician.
Preparation for the examination
No special preparation is required, but the following recommendations should be followed:
- wear comfortable underwear made of natural materials.
- avoid wearing jewelry and costume jewelry.
- limit the use of cosmetics on the face.
Contraindications:
- Presence of metal implants or devices that may interfere with the magnetic field (e.g., pacemakers);
- Claustrophobia (relative contraindication);
- Severe general condition of the patient (relative contraindication);
- First trimester of pregnancy.
- If the patient has an MR-compatible cardiac device, the presence of a cardiologist is required during the examination.
For a scheduled visit, be at the reception of the department 15 minutes before the examination.
The results of the examination (description, film on demand, recording on optical media) are issued after 6 hours. In complex cases, the deadline may be extended to 24 hours.
