MRI of the foot
The service is provided only upon referral from a specialist.
During the examination, a magnetic resonance imaging scan of the foot is performed to assess the condition of the soft tissues and identify possible pathologies.
Indications for the examination:
- Degenerative changes in the foot.
- Old injuries to the foot.
- Foot pain.
- Suspected tumors or lesions of the foot.
- Damage to joint or soft tissue structures.
Duration of the procedure: 20 minutes. The examination is performed by a radiologist and an X-ray technician.
Age restrictions: the service is available to patients of any age.
Preparation for the examination:
- No special preparation is required, but the following recommendations should be followed:
- Wear comfortable underwear made of natural materials.
- Avoid wearing jewelry and costume jewelry.
- Limit the use of cosmetics on the face.
Contraindications:
- Presence of pacemakers, ferromagnetic clips, large fragments located near large vessels or important organs in the body. The presence of fragments is a relative contraindication, so the patient should discuss the possibility of undergoing the study with a radiologist.
- Patients with severe forms of claustrophobia may require sedation for the study.
For a scheduled visit, be at the reception of the department 15 minutes before the study.
The results of the study (description, film on demand, recording on optical media) are issued after 6 hours. In complex cases, the term may be extended to 24 hours.
