Description of the service
Parathyroid hormone (PTH) is a protein produced by the pineal (parathyroid) glands. PTH affects bone tissue, kidneys, and intestines by helping to increase calcium (Ca²⁺) and phosphate levels in the blood. Calcium concentration in the body affects the production and hydrolytic breakdown of parathyroid hormone: when calcium levels are low, the glands secrete PTH more actively.
