Fluoride coating is performed on children to strengthen the thin enamel of the tooth to prevent caries. The procedure is also performed to treat the initial stage of caries "spots", when the enamel has just started to change color, but is not damaged.
A pediatric dentist cleans the tooth from plaque and isolates it from saliva, then covers the tooth with several layers of fluoride varnish.
Contraindications:
There are no age restrictions on treatment, the procedure can be performed on milk and permanent teeth.
