Radiofrequency pulsed neuromodulation is a non-narcotic needle therapy that can be used for many purposes, including the treatment of chronic pain in the shoulders, knees, and other joints. It is believed that over time, inflammation of the joints and ligaments causes small nerve endings to grow into the joint structures that are not present in normal joints. These nerves can be treated with this advanced, minimally invasive outpatient procedure, during which the doctor guides a needle into the area of inflammation (joint or other structure). Once the area is identified, pulsed electricity is used to create an electromagnetic field at the tip of the needle.
