An outpatient procedure for laser retinal coagulation is recommended in case of detection of peripheral retinal dystrophies that can lead to retinal detachment. Laser technology provides high precision, allowing to treat the thinnest areas of the retina, forming the so-called “fusion” between the retina and the underlying choroid. Delimiting laser retinal coagulation is a variant of this procedure and is used to strengthen the peripheral retinal zone. During the procedure, a special lens is applied to the patient's eye. The procedure is performed under local drop anesthesia.
