Description of the service package

Allergy is an individual response of the immune system to certain substances. These can be food, plant pollen, book dust, animal hair or chemicals. Allergy can manifest in different ways: from mucosal edema and redness to Quincke's edema and anaphylactic shock.

Allergic contact dermatitis is one of the most difficult allergies to diagnose. Exposure to allergens causes redness and swelling on the skin, spots in the form of eczema, papules. Problem with diagnosis is because of delayed body's reaction to an allergen manifesting itself after a few days, so it can be quite difficult to determine the allergen.

There is no specific treatment for allergic dermatitis and its minor manifestations can be removed by eliminating an irritant causing the body's immune response. In more severe cases, a doctor prescribes antihistamines and corticosteroid ointments.

As it can be quite difficult to identify an allergen, a modern and effective patch testing system is used to identify the substances causing allergic dermatitis. The patch testing is available at the Dobrobut MC network.

The patch testing is the placement of patches on the patient's skin. Due to the high reliability of the obtained results, simplicity and safety of the procedure, the patch testing is the basic examination method and golden standard for diagnosis of allergic contact dermatitis according to the modern European and American clinical guidelines.

Indications

  • conditions that may be the result of a delayed type IV contact allergic hypersensitivity reaction, such as contact dermatitis, polymorphic erythema, coin-shaped eczema, lichen planus (Wilson's), psoriasis with localization on the hands, granulomatous or lymphomatoid reactions;
  • deterioration of atopic, seborrheic, hemostatic dermatitis, coin-shaped eczema, suspected concomitant allergic contact dermatitis;
  • drug-induced dermatitis;
  • mucosal reactions: conjunctivitis, stomatitis, vulvitis;
  • before implant placement and prosthetics in dentistry and orthopedics in case of suspected allergic reaction to metals and other materials.

Contraindications

  • use of corticosteroids, immunosuppressants or other drugs that affect the state of the immune system. These medications should be discontinued 2 weeks before the PATCH test. In this case, taking antihistamines is a contraindication to testing.
  • severe or generalized previous reaction to hapten allergen - is not included in the testing panel (you should inform the doctor at the initial consultation).
  • severe or generalized active dermatitis.
  • skin damage at the site of application of the PATCH system
  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding may be a conditional contraindication, since, despite the extensive experience of PATCH testing, there is still no data on the risk or safety of this diagnostic procedure for mother and child.

Algorithm of services provision

  1. Algorithm of the procedure
  2. An appointment with an allergist or dermatologist for a consultation and referral for a test using the PATCH system (first consultation).
  3. Ordering and fitting of a skin applicator.
  4. Removal of the PATCH system and initial assessment 24 hours after removal of the PATCH system. It takes place by appointment with an allergist or dermatologist of the clinic (second consultation).
  5. Main evaluation of the PATCH test 48 hours after removal of the PATCH system. It takes place by appointment with an allergist or dermatologist of the clinic (third consultation).
  6. Consultation with a pediatric dermatologist 48-72 hours after the main PATCH test evaluation (fourth consultation).

Terms of service

Before undergoing the PATCH test, it is necessary to stop taking glucocorticoids 2 weeks before the procedure, ointments, lotions and sprays - 1 week before. Taking antihistamines is not a contraindication for the procedure.

In order to avoid a false-positive reaction, the skin of the back should be clean: free of rashes, redness, and hair.

IMPORTANT! To evaluate the results of the PATCH test, you need to come to the clinic 30-40 minutes before your appointment with the doctor to remove the system in the manipulation room from the nurse.

An appointment for the procedure is made only after an initial consultation with an allergist or dermatologist.

The PATCH system is ordered and paid for on the day of ordering, the cost is according to the price list. The cost of the system is not included in the cost of the complex service and is specified at the initial consultation with a doctor before installing the application.

If each of the four stages of the complex is carried out by an expert doctor, an additional fee for the expert is charged for each visit.
