Autism Diagnosis ADOS (Autism Observation Scale for Diagnostics) is a semi-structured method that allows for a comprehensive diagnosis of individuals of different age groups who are suspected of having autism spectrum disorders (ASD).
ADOS diagnosis consists of various activities, the assessment of which allows the specialist to observe social and communicative aspects to diagnose ASD and diagnose the entire spectrum of pervasive disorders, not just ASD.
ADOS allows for a diagnosis based on DSM-IV and ICD-10 criteria.
The diagnosis covers the main and accompanying symptoms of autism, which are divided into six groups:
- Problems with social interaction.
- Perseverations.
- Somatosensory disorders.
- Atypical communication and development.
- Mood and its disorders.
- Attention and security problems.
Diagnostics are carried out in the presence of parents after consultation with a special psychologist, psychiatrist or self-registration through the contact center.
The service includes 3 hours of specialist work:
- First day: 2 hours in a row, of which 1 hour - diagnostics (child and parents are present), 1 hour - analysis of results, calculation of points and drawing up a conclusion (the specialist works in the absence of the child's parents and the child);
- Second day: a meeting is held with the child's parents (possible without the child), but not earlier than 2-3 days after the first visit, during the meeting the specialist explains the diagnostic results and informs about the necessary actions for correction.
- For the first consultation, parents should bring two types of snacks (cookies and fruit) and the child's favorite drink - this is necessary for the child's diagnosis. If there are no snacks and drinks, they can be ordered at the reception.
Diagnosis is performed only after consultation with a neurologist, special psychologist, speech therapist or pediatrician in case of suspicion of developmental disorders related to ASD.
Diagnosis is performed on children from 1 year of age and adults of any age.
Total diagnostic time is 180 hours.
