Bacteriological Semen (Ejaculate) Culture is a laboratory test aimed at detecting and identifying the causative agents of a non-specific inflammatory process (excluding anaerobes) in an ejaculate sample. The analysis allows for:
- Determination of the presence of microorganisms (typical pathogens or conditionally pathogenic bacteria).
- Quantitative assessment (degree of bacterial contamination).
- Evaluation of antibiotic susceptibility of the identified bacteria, which helps the physician prescribe effective antibacterial therapy.
What is included in the service:
- Inoculation of the ejaculate/semen onto special culture media to grow bacteria.
- Identification of pathogens to the species level using the modern automated MALDI-TOF method.
- Determination of antibiotic susceptibility, with the list of antibiotics depending on the detected pathogen.
