MRI of the hip joints
The service is provided exclusively upon referral from a specialist.
During the examination, magnetic resonance imaging of the hip joints is performed to identify pathologies and assess the condition of the joint tissues.
Indications for the examination:
- Degenerative changes in the hip joints.
- Old injuries to the hip joints.
- Pain in the groin and legs.
- Suspicion of the presence of foci of hip joint pathology.
- Suspicion of aseptic necrosis of the femoral heads.
Duration of the procedure: 20 minutes. The examination is performed by a radiologist and an X-ray technician.
Preparation for the examination:
- No special preparation is required, but the following recommendations should be followed:
- Wear comfortable underwear made of natural materials.
- Avoid wearing jewelry or costume jewelry.
- Limit the use of cosmetics on the face, as some types of mascara can distort the image.
Contraindications:
- Presence of metal implants or devices that may interfere with the magnetic field (e.g. pacemakers).
- Claustrophobia (relative contraindication).
- Presence of large fragments located near large vessels or important organs. This is a relative contraindication, so the possibility of conducting the study must be discussed with the radiologist.
- Patients with severe forms of claustrophobia may require sedation.
When making a scheduled visit, be at the reception of the department 15 minutes before the study.
The results (description, disk, film on demand) are issued within 6 hours, in complex cases - up to 24 hours.
