Anti-Müllerian Hormone (AMH)

Anti-Müllerian hormone is an important indicator of a woman's health, which allows you to assess the ovarian reserve (the number of potential eggs). AMH is produced by the ovarian follicles and needs to be monitored as it directly predicts the chances of pregnancy. If you are planning to have a child, you should take an Anti-Mullerian Hormone test to assess your ovarian reserve and reproductive health.

To determine the level of AMH, it is necessary to donate venous blood. The procedure is no different from a regular blood draw. You can take AMH in our clinic MC "Dobrobut" in Kyiv. We have a modern laboratory and diagnostic base with the latest equipment, which guarantees reliable test results.

Why take an Anti-Mullerian hormone test?

The analysis for AMH is very important because the hormone itself is responsible for the reproductive functions of the female body. Violation of its formation often causes not the onset of pregnancy. Therefore, the level of anti-Müllerian hormone allows you to assess the childbearing function of a woman.

If the egg supply is high, there is every chance to experience the happiness of motherhood.

In addition, anti-Mullerian hormone (AMH) analysis plays an important role in planning an IVF procedure. In this case, its level allows the doctor to determine the exact doses of hormones that are needed during in vitro fertilization.

With ovarian cancer, women have been prescribed an AMH test to assess the quality of therapy. According to the dynamics of hormone production, the success of treatment is judged.

A blood test for AMH is the so-called indicator of a woman's fertility since the hormone allows you to assess women's health:

  • If the indicators are too high, this may indicate problems with ovulation, the presence of tumors in the ovaries, an increase in the number of male sex hormones.
  • If the indicators are underestimated, then the ovarian reserve decreases in the body, menopause is approaching, the ovaries do not work properly, there are risks of obesity.

AMH analysis is very important when planning a child, as it shows how much time a couple has to conceive. By understanding the ovarian reserve, the woman and the doctor can choose the most successful strategy for the future planning of a baby.

If the level of the hormone is low, but the woman does not want / cannot give birth in the near future, the issue of preserving (freezing) eggs is discussed, in other words, “postponed motherhood”.

A blood test for AMH hormones is also included in the anti-age program, as it helps to determine the decline in estrogen levels - a hormone that is important for prolonging a woman's youth.

The price of the Anti-Mullerian Hormone analysis in our clinic is affordable. Such a study is harmless since you only need to donate blood. We do not recommend donating anti-Mullerian hormone in dubious clinics and laboratories, since the negligent attitude of medical personnel and the lack of modern equipment can cause false readings. To have a clear picture of your reproductive health, come to our clinic MC "Dobrobut" in Kyiv.

Indications for an AMH test

For women, an anti-Mullerian hormone test should be taken:

  • to determine the ovarian reserve and the chances of conceiving a child;
  • in preparation for IVF;
  • with suspicion of polycystic ovary syndrome;
  • to evaluate the effectiveness of therapy in ovarian cancer.

They are also sent for AMH analysis in pediatrics to establish gender, assess the level of puberty, and the presence of testicular tissue in boys.

In men, an elevated AMH level may indicate delayed puberty, the presence of a Sertoli cell tumor, or cryptorchidism. Low level - a violation of the formation of sex, anorchia (absence of testicles), premature puberty.

The production of AMH is not associated with other hormones, its level is not affected by external factors and lifestyle. This means that the concentration cannot be affected in any way. If in doubtful medical institutions you are offered to take drugs to increase the level, change the specialist.

Our clinic has a low price of anti-Mullerian hormone analysis, experienced gynecologists-reproductologists work, who know how to act correctly after receiving the results of the analysis.

AMH hormone test results

The results obtained after the test for anti-Mullerian hormone can be compared with the reference values (ng/ml.):

  • The normal variant for prepubertal age is up to 8.90.
  • The variant of the norm at reproductive age is up to 12.60.
  • Decreased ovarian reserve - below 1.00.
  • Postmenopausal - below 0.16.

The maximum amount of the hormone is observed in the period of 20-30 years. After 30, the level of AMH begins to gradually decrease and completely stops being produced by menopause. However, there are situations when even in young girls the level of AMH begins to actively decrease.

You should not engage in self-diagnosis and self-treatment if the result of an AMH blood test is not normal. Decoding should be done exclusively by the attending physician. Our clinic MC "Dobrobut" in Kyiv employs some of the best gynecologists-reproductologists in Ukraine, who follow the principles of evidence-based medicine and use exclusively proven methods of treatment. Even in difficult cases, we will do our best to help you!

How to Prepare for Your Anti-Müllerian Hormone Test

One of the frequently asked questions of Dobrobut MC patients is when to take an anti-Mullerian hormone to get the most accurate results. You need to sign up for an AMH blood test, the price of which will not scare you, on the 2-4th day of the cycle.

Doctors recommend excluding the use of hormonal contraceptives, so as not to distort the result. If you are worried about temporarily canceling them, make an appointment with your doctor in advance to clarify all the important points.

You should come to the laboratory for blood donation 8 hours after the last meal. For one day, it is necessary to avoid food overload, alcohol intake, active sports, and emotional stress. In addition, it is important not to smoke for 1 hour.

To find out how much AMH analysis costs, you can call our clinic or ask a question on the website. We have set affordable prices for AMH analysis since the procedure itself does not require the use of complex additional equipment. The process takes no more than 10 minutes, as with the delivery of a clinical blood test. You do not need to take anything with you to the clinic. All that is required for the analysis is in our database.

After receiving the results, immediately consult with your doctor to determine the correct tactics of action. If you entrust your health to our clinic of reproductive medicine "Dobrobut", you will be surrounded by care and a responsible attitude to your specific case. Leave a request or call by phone to find out the cost of a blood test for AMH.
