Call-center

Toxoplasmosis is a parasitic disease from the group of infections (TORCH) that can be transmitted in utero. The abbreviation TORCH - T is Toxoplasma. The disease occurs due to infection with the protozoan Toxoplasma gondii, which is especially dangerous for pregnant women, as it can cause miscarriage or death of the fetus.

Toxoplasmosis is transmitted from mother to embryo, therefore, during and when planning pregnancy, a blood test is prescribed to determine toxoplasma IgG.

In our clinic MC "Dobrobut" in Kyiv, you can get tested for IgG antibodies to Toxoplasma gondii. Our laboratory and the diagnostic base are equipped with modern technology for the determination of antibodies, regardless of the duration of infection of the body.

What do toxoplasma gondii IgG antibodies mean?

If a person becomes infected with Toxoplasma gondii, then his immunity reacts to the parasite and produces immunoglobulins (antibodies). IgG and IgM antibodies appear in the blood. IgG antibodies to Toxoplasma are produced after 3-4 weeks of infection. Their maximum level is reached after 2-3 months and, as a rule, persists throughout life, providing long-term protection against infection.

Why donate blood for the determination of IgG antibodies to toxoplasmosis

The carrier of the simplest toxoplasma gondii are cats that become infected with it by eating raw meat and infected rodents and birds. People become infected through food, water; unprocessed or raw meat; in organ transplants.

As a rule, a person does not even suspect the presence of a parasite in the body, because the disease occurs in the form of a mild cold or has no symptoms at all. The parasite manifests itself only with a serious weakening of the immune system.

The analysis of IgG to Toxoplasma is of great importance during pregnancy, since the fetus, which becomes infected from the mother, can develop severe complications: deafness, liver damage, loss of vision, mental retardation. The probability of transmission of infection to the embryo is quite high - up to 40%. If infection occurs in the first months of pregnancy, it can cause miscarriage or stillbirth. Therefore, be sure to take an analysis for toxoplasmosis IgG antibodies, especially since the cost of the study in our clinic MC "Dobrobut" is affordable.

We recommend being tested for IgG toxoplasma antibodies 5-6 months before the planned pregnancy to assess the state of immunity to the parasite in advance. And also, if necessary, take preventive measures to protect the unborn child. In our clinic MC "Dobrobut" the test will take place without undue worries because the laboratory employs delicate specialists who find an individual approach to each patient. Plus, the price of research in Ukraine is affordable for everyone.

Do not diagnose for the determination of IgG antibodies to Toxoplasma gondii in dubious laboratories. This is the only way you can be sure of the result. Our clinic has received the necessary certificates for conducting research, and the latest generation of European equipment guarantees 100% reliability of the result.

Indications for testing for IgG antibodies to Toxoplasma gondii

In our clinic, the analysis is prescribed by gynecologists to girls who:

  • planning a pregnancy;
  • have suspicions of toxoplasmosis during pregnancy.
  • Therapists, pediatricians, infectious disease specialists can also prescribe a study:
  • when suspicious, if a person ate raw or not fully cooked meat, drank contaminated water;
  • if the patient has been in contact with cat feces;
  • with signs of influenza-like illness in a person with immunodeficiency.

How the study is done

To determine IgG antibodies to Toxoplasma gondii, the doctor takes a venous blood sample. The procedure takes no more than 10 minutes. Our experts understand how stressful blood donation from a vein can be, so they do everything to ensure that you are calm and not nervous. After the procedure, you can easily return to your business.

The results of the quantitative determination of antibodies IgG toxoplasma gondii

In a quantitative study, you can see one of two results:

Less than 10 IU / ml - negative. This means that the person is not infected with Toxoplasma gondii or IgG antibodies that have not yet developed due to early infection.

More than 10 IU / ml - positive. This means that there is an active, chronic or latent infection in the body, or the person has previously had an infection.

If the antibody result is positive, you do not need to worry, but it is enough to sign up for a consultation with the doctor of our Dobrobut MC clinic in Kyiv to determine the correct treatment tactics.

How to make an appointment for a blood test to determine IgG antibodies to Toxoplasma

If you need to take an IgG test for toxoplasmosis, leave a request on our website. The price of a laboratory test includes all consumables, so you do not need to take anything with you to the clinic. We recommend that you come to our laboratory for testing on an empty stomach or 4 hours after eating. Do not smoke 30 minutes before donating blood.

Sign up for laboratory tests at our clinic in Kyiv - donate blood without a queue and unnecessary worries. Take care of yourself and the health of your unborn baby.
