Temporomandibular (TMD) disorders are a fairly common problem among patients of the Dobrobut Medical Center. Treatment involves examination of the maxillofacial surgeon and dentist-orthopedist, with participation of orthodontist, if need arises. For diagnosis a patient undergoes CT and MRI examination of the TMD joints.
Surgical treatment is indicated if conservative treatment with caps and medications failed. In such cases, medical specialists of the Dobrobut MC perform diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy of the TMD joints, open surgical reposition and fixation of the articular discs including correction of the shape of the articular heads.
The MC provides care to patients with limited mouth opening, in particular for ankylosis of the TMD joints. Treatment involves the use of both the body's own tissues (bone transplantation) and complete joint endoprostheses.
The service can be provided after consultation of the patient with a maxillofacial surgeon to establish (confirm) the diagnosis, determine the indications and contraindications to surgery.
