Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is the diagnostics of diseases of internal organs and tissues using nucleic magnetic resonance. It gives the possibility to obtain a quality image of the necessary organ or region revealing all the changes that take place. The technique is used in gastroenterology to diagnose the diseases of liver, biliary tracts, pancreatic gland, spleen, etc. By contrast with CT, MRI is safe for pregnant or lactating women and children, because there is no X-ray exposure.
There are limitations for MRI regarding the people that have metallic objects in their bodies (pacemakers, acoustic aids, etc.).
