Neurosonography (NSG) is a non-invasive painless and safe method of ultrasound examination of the brain of newborns and young children (up to 1 year) through the skull spaces or open spots: the lateral fontanelles or foramen Magnum. In 95% of cases, neurosonography of newborns can detect hidden brain damage in the first weeks of life, and doctors without wasting time can provide emergency care.

Indications for NSG:

  • prematurity;
  • clinical manifestations of CNS damage;
  • traumatic brain injuries;
  • inflammatory diseases of the brain;
  • hypoxic-ischemic lesions;
  • stigmas of dysembryogenesis;
  • hydrocephalus.

NSG detects the following changes:

  • hemorrhage;
  • malformations of the brain;
  • tumors and cysts;
  • inflammatory processes;
  • hydrocephalus.

No preparation is needed, no anesthesia is required.
