Call-center

In a healthy person, protein in the blood is represented by albumins, globulins, and fibrinogen, which are in a stable ratio and perform important physiological functions. A normal level of protein is needed to maintain oncotic blood pressure, the immune system, transport oxygen and nutrients to organs and tissues.

Most pathological processes are accompanied by changes in protein metabolism, so the biochemical analysis of blood serum proteins is included in the list of standard laboratory diagnostics. The advantages of the study are the speed of execution, minimal invasiveness, high reliability, and the possibility of conducting in different categories of patients. At the Dobrobut MC clinic in Kyiv, patients can take a protein test and get a transcript of the results from an experienced doctor.

When is a total blood protein test required?

The study of the level of blood serum protein is prescribed very often, it is included in the standard program for diagnosing such diseases:

  • malnutrition and diseases of the digestive tract;
  • pathology of the hepatobiliary system;
  • acute and chronic kidney disease;
  • metabolic disorders in endocrine diseases;
  • infectious diseases;
  • malignant neoplasms;
  • systemic connective tissue diseases;
  • anemia, hemolysis of erythrocytes, and other pathologies of the blood system.

Analysis for total protein as part of blood biochemistry is prescribed for pregnant women, patients who are examined for infertility or are preparing for assisted reproductive technologies. The study is also carried out as part of routine medical examinations and health check-ups to check the state of metabolism in the body.

If the doctor needs to assess the state of protein metabolism in detail, he will prescribe a proteinogram - a study of all protein fractions of blood serum, the results of which help in making an accurate diagnosis.

Preparing for diagnostics

Before taking a blood test for protein, you must follow these rules:

  • do not smoke for 30 minutes before the study;
  • 10-12 hours before visiting the manipulation room, refuse to eat;
  • in the morning on the day of the study, do not drink coffee, tea, fruit juices, and if you are very thirsty, drink some non-carbonated mineral water;
  • the day before the diagnosis, avoid strong emotional upheavals and heavy physical exertion;
  • 2 days before the test, give up alcohol.

Taking medications can affect the level of blood protein, therefore, in agreement with the doctor, drug therapy is temporarily canceled before the study.

How is the analysis for blood protein, the price of the study

Diagnostics is carried out by generally accepted standards of medical services in Ukraine. For analysis, you need to obtain a sample of venous blood. The procedure is performed in a manipulation room: a tourniquet is put on the patient’s hand, they are asked to make a fist several times, after which the nurse punctures the vein and fills the test tube with blood.

The biomaterial is sent to the laboratory to analyze the protein level using a special device. Automated research eliminates the human factor and allows you to get accurate results of the protein level.

Protein Test Results

The form will indicate the protein content in grams per liter, as well as the reference value of this indicator for a particular laboratory. In the blood of an adult healthy person, 65-85 g / l of total protein is determined, however, there are physiological reasons for small deviations from the norm. You should not try to independently evaluate the results: only a doctor can correctly interpret the data and suggest a diagnosis.

A decrease in protein to 55-65 g / l is typical for pregnant women, especially in the third trimester. A pathological decrease in the amount of protein occurs with prolonged food restrictions, diseases of the kidneys, liver, and cardiovascular system, and malabsorption of nutrients in the intestine. An increased indicator in the study of the level of total blood protein may indicate autoimmune diseases, acute infectious processes, dehydration, intoxication syndrome.

Both a decrease and an increase in the level of total protein in the blood are signs of health problems. In such a situation, one should not delay contacting a doctor and undergoing an additional examination.

In the clinic MC "Dobrobut" you can analyze total blood protein at an affordable price. If necessary, there is an urgent examination service with results obtained in a few hours, but its cost will be higher. All tests in our clinic are performed by appointment without waiting in line.

You can sign up for a study of total protein in Kyiv by phone or by filling out an application in the feedback form.
