Removal of breast implants

A plastic surgeon and anesthesiologist will examine and consult the patient. Based on the results of the examination and the results of diagnostics, a decision is made on the method of removing the endoprostheses.

The operation is performed under general anesthesia, after which the patient is transferred to a hospital for observation.

These are the same contraindications for any primary breast augmentation surgery. Acute stages of chronic diseases, fever, pregnancy, and lactation, acute respiratory viral infections, rashes in the intervention area. Pathology of the heart and blood vessels, diabetes mellitus, oncology, blood clotting diseases.

Before the removal of breast implants, a woman re-undergoes all examinations that were done during primary mammoplasty, including MRI, ultrasound, mammography.

After immersion in anesthesia, the surgeon will access the endoprostheses in the same places where the incisions were made.

Depending on the condition of the implants, they are either simply removed or removed together with the fibrous capsule using the en bloc method. In the latter case, the simultaneous installation of new implants is possible. At the same time, a breast lift can also be performed if the implants were simulated large.

After removal of the endoprostheses, the tissues are sutured. The patient is taken out of anesthesia and sent to a hospital for recovery and rest.

• In the early days, moderate pain may be noted.
• The patient wears compression garments for 30 days.
• It is recommended to avoid physical activity for 14 days.
• The next operations can be planned no earlier than in 6 months.

Depending on the size of endoprostheses and individual characteristics, the removal of breast implants can affect the external data of the breast in different ways. If the volume of implants was small, the chance to regain your breasts “as before” is higher.
