Laser correction of the frenum of tongue, upper or lower lip is performed under local anesthesia. In the process of the procedure the discission of the frenum of tongue (excision of the frenum of upper or lower lip) using a diode laser is performed. The necessity of suturation is defined by the doctor after the intervention.

Duration of the procedure: 20–25 minutes, performed by a surgeon dentist of a dental unit.

The procedure has no age restrictions. A check-up by a surgeon dentist is required at the preparatory stage.

Indications for the procedure

Indications for correction of the frenum of the tongue, upper or lower lip:

diastema between the permanent central incisors and the age of the patient exceeding 7 years;
lability of an interdental papilla of the central permanent incisors during lip retraction.

Indications for correction of the frenum of the tongue:

first and second type according to the lingual frenulum classification by Khoroshylkyna F. Ya.;
occlusion pathology;
referral of a speech therapist in case of defective pronunciation.

Сontraindications for the procedure

Contraindications for the procedure:

mucositis in the surgical site;
herpetic diseases of the buccal mucous membrane.

General contraindications:

cardiovascular diseases (pre-myocardial infarction and the period of 3–6 months after a myocardial infarction, hypertensive disease in the period of crisis);
blood diseases;
mental illnesses during the periods of acute exacerbation.

Cost of the procedure

The cost includes the doctor’s work in the process of the surgery, medications and expendable materials necessary for the intervention. Anesthesia and suturation (when indicated) are paid additionally.
