Hyperhydrosis. How to treat hyperhydrosis of feet, hands, head
Hyperhidrosis is the pathological condition that manifests with the intense uncontrolled exudation with perspiratory glands.
Generalized and focalized types of hyperhidrosis are distinguished.
- Generalized hyperhidrosis is observed in case of the exposure to high ambient temperature, physical and emotional stress (physiologic hyperhidrosis), and also in case of some diseases (tuberculosis, nervous system disturbances, sharp drop in glucose level in the blood serum, etc.) and the action of certain medications (antidepressants, serotonergic, adrenergic, cholinomimetic).
- The most common forms of the focalized hyperhidrosis are palmoplantar hyperhidrosis and hyperhidrosis of large skin folds. These forms are often the result of unhygienic personal behavior, flat foot, wearing of tight rubber shoes, clothes of synthetic fabrics, etc.
Hyperhidrosis creates the conditions for the growing of mycology and purulent flora as a result of maceration (mollities and swelling) of skin and changing its acidity.
Symptoms
Hyperhidrosis can be accompanied with a foul smell, the sweat often has coloring properties that makes a patient uncomfortable. The diagnosis is determined based on complaints and data of a physical exam.
Treatment
In case of the secondary hyperhidrosis, the treatment is aimed at the elimination of the underlying disease.
In case of the primary form, a patient receives the prescription of general tonics and the injections of botulotoxin A. A patient is also advised to use bacteriocidal dusts for skin drying or antiperspirants. Psychotherapeutic treatment may also be applied.
Surgical treatment of hyperhidrosis is applied quite rarely, only in the cases when other methods are inefficient.
