Why is a comprehensive consultation of an oncogynecologist needed and how does it differ from a “regular” examination?

How to become our patient

Dear girls and women, we constantly convey a simple rule - it is better to prevent health problems than to treat them for a long, difficult and expensive time.

In order not to burden you with numbers and statistics, we will simply remind you that cervical cancer is one of the most common cancers in women; ovarian cancer and uterine cancer are common. And the main insidiousness of all these diseases is that in the early stages they pass without symptoms, and in the later stages, the most modern methods, unfortunately, are not always effective.

But cancer is not rock! A malignant tumor of the cervix can be avoided if precancerous diseases are detected and treated in time. Cytological examination of the cervix is the main screening procedure, thanks to which those cellular changes in the epithelium of the cervix that can lead to cancer are detected. This test is used all over the world and has saved thousands and thousands of women's lives. According to the recommendations of the WHO and the American USPSTF, cervical cytology is recommended for women aged 21–65 every 3 years or every 5 years in combination with an HPV test.

And early detection of other types of gynecological cancer will be the key to successful treatment. These are the same cases when it is better to play it safe, to be a little distrustful, so as not to trigger the disease. That is why preventive examination and consultation of a qualified oncologist should become a rule for a woman of any age.

What is a quality appointment of an oncologist and how does it differ from a "normal" examination?

In Dobrobut, experienced oncogynecologists conduct a comprehensive consultation of patients. Such a consultation necessarily includes:

  • gynecological examination in mirrors;
  • colposcopy with image display on a computer monitor;
  • Ultrasound of the pelvic organs transvaginally or transabdominally;
  • taking material for cytological examination;
  • consultation on any issue, including recommendations for vaccination against the HPV virus that causes cervical cancer;
  • issuance of a conclusion with recommendations.

That is, at one time, at one appointment, you go through everything you need.

Important. You should know that if you did not have an ultrasound or did not take material for cytology at your gynecologist's appointment, many risk factors may not be detected!

World standards provide for mandatory instrumental examination, which gives doctors the main information. The doctor may also recommend vaccination for the prevention of cervical cancer. HPV vaccination is recommended by the WHO for girls aged 9–14 years before the start of sexual activity, but catch-up vaccination is possible up to 26–45 years, depending on the country, history and available vaccines. The vaccines Cervarix, Gardasil-4, Gardasil-9 are registered in Ukraine.

Only a comprehensive consultation of an experienced oncologist will answer questions about your health and help you avoid trouble.

Make an appointment for a consultation.
