Dobrobut to Offer Free Mole Checkups for Melanoma Awareness Day

On the occasion of World Melanoma Day, specialists from the Dobrobut medical network will provide free mole examinations for all who wish to participate. The initiative will run from May 13 to May 22 across all medical centers of the network. It aims at early detection of melanoma and other types of skin cancer, as well as promoting a culture of regular preventive checkups.

Melanoma is one of the most dangerous types of skin cancer, capable of developing rapidly and often without clear symptoms for a long time. According to the World Health Organization, more than 320,000 new cases of melanoma are diagnosed worldwide each year, and over 57,000 people die from the disease. In Ukraine, melanoma also remains a serious issue: thousands of new cases are recorded annually, with a significant share detected at late stages.

At the same time, early detection greatly increases the chances of successful treatment. In early stages, the survival rate can exceed 90%. That is why regular skin checks are an important part of personal healthcare.

Modern diagnostic methods allow for the detection of suspicious changes at early stages, when treatment is most effective. Therefore, doctors recommend having a preventive skin examination at least once a year, even in the absence of symptoms.

“Melanoma does not always begin with alarming symptoms — sometimes it can look like an ordinary mole. That is why an annual skin check should become as routine as a dental visit or a basic check-up. At Dobrobut, we aim to ensure patients have access to timely diagnostics, because early detection saves lives and significantly increases the chances of successful treatment,” said Serhii Diedkov, Head of the Oncodermatology Center at the Dobrobut medical network.

As part of the initiative, free screenings will also be available for the network’s employees.
