Dobrobut and Mohyla Academy Medical School Has Begun Teaching Its First Students

In September, the Dobrobut and Mohyla Academy Medical School began teaching its first cohort of students. The first cohort comprises 13 students from different regions of Ukraine. They will study in the six-year master’s degree program in Medicine.

The first cohort was deliberately kept small — this will allow the team to give more attention to each student and work together to improve the educational process throughout the school’s first year.

“These 13 students are more than just our first class. They are pioneers and, to some extent, co-authors of the Medical School. We deliberately wanted the first cohort to be small because, together with these students, we will go through the entire educational journey for the first time, receive feedback, see what works best, and improve what needs to be changed. We have high hopes for them and want them to become doctors in six years who not only possess strong professional knowledge but can also think, communicate, take responsibility, and work for Ukraine,” says Mariia Kukushkina, Founding Dean of the Medical School.

The Mohyla Academy and Dobrobut Medical School is also announcing an additional student intake: applications will be accepted from September 5 to 15, 2026, so those wishing to join the Medical School’s first cohort still have an opportunity to apply for admission.

As a reminder, the Medical School’s distinctive feature is the combination of Mohyla Academy’s academic culture, based on freedom of thought, critical thinking, and interdisciplinarity, with the modern clinical expertise of the Dobrobut medical network. From their first years of study, students will have the opportunity to gradually immerse themselves in the clinical environment, work with simulation technologies, and become familiar with real clinical practice.

Education at the Medical School is based on the CanMEDS competency framework, which is used by leading medical schools worldwide. The program provides for the early development of clinical skills, work with real clinical cases, modern simulation-based learning methods, and a strong focus on ethics, communication, critical thinking, and teamwork.
