Dobrobut and Blood Agents Organize a Large Blood Donation Drive

On June 17 and 19, open blood donation events will take place at Dobrobut’s medical and diagnostic centers in Kyiv to mark World Blood Donor Day. During these events, everyone willing to donate will be able to give blood to support Ukrainian healthcare institutions in treating wounded military personnel and saving children's lives.

The initiative is organized by the Dobrobut medical network together with Blood Agents, the Armed Forces of Ukraine Blood Center, and the Blood Service Center of Okhmatdyt Hospital. To support and thank donors, several Ukrainian brands have joined the campaign, including functional snack bar producer FIZI, coffee company Mad Heads, and artisan bakery Bakehouse.

This is already the fourth joint initiative by Dobrobut and Blood Agents. During the open donation event held this spring, 115 people donated 52 liters of blood. These donations potentially helped meet the needs of up to 340 patients.

Any Ukrainian citizen over the age of 18, weighing at least 50 kg and without contraindications to blood donation, can become a donor.

Blood donations can be made at Dobrobut multidisciplinary hospitals from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.:

June 17 — 12-A Bazhana Avenue, 8th floor. Registration link: https://bloodagents.com/booking/vidkruta-dobrobut-17

June 19 — Building C, 3 Sim’i Idzikovskykh Street, 9th floor. Registration link: https://bloodagents.com/booking/vidkruta-dobrobut-19

According to WHO recommendations, 33 people per 1,000 population should donate blood regularly. Ukraine has historically experienced a shortage of donor blood, with only 11 to 13 donors per 1,000 people even before the war.

Due to the full-scale invasion, the demand for donor blood has increased significantly. Today, it is critically needed both to save wounded soldiers on the front lines and in military hospitals, and to support patients in hospitals who continue to battle serious illnesses.

Children’s medical institutions face an especially acute need for blood supplies. According to the Ministry of Health of Ukraine and the National Cancer Registry, around 1,000 new cases of cancer are diagnosed in children and adolescents in Ukraine each year, and a single course of treatment may require up to 50 blood transfusions.

Meeting these large-scale needs is only possible through a stable base of regular voluntary donors.

“Donated blood is a critical resource without which healthcare cannot function. It is needed every day—from supporting complex surgical procedures and cancer treatments to saving lives after severe combat injuries. At Dobrobut, we systematically organize open donation events to support blood centers and help Ukrainians develop a culture of regular blood donation. A stable blood supply is not a matter of one-time assistance; it is a strategic component of healthcare system resilience that saves the lives of both our defenders and civilian patients every day,” said Oleksandra Mashkevych, Chief Medical Officer of the Dobrobut medical network.

“Blood donation is an invitation to a social contract of mutual support, even a kind of cultural habit, and donors are the true superheroes of our time. They represent an extremely important social asset for the country. I am very pleased to see the growing number of organizations in Ukraine that include blood donation as part of their corporate social responsibility initiatives,” said Olena Balbek, founder of Blood Agents.
