"Dobrobut" opened an ophthalmology clinic in Kyiv

Dobrobut Medical Network has opened an ophthalmology clinic at the multidisciplinary hospital at 12A Mykola Bazhana Ave.

The clinic provides a full range of ophthalmic services - from outpatient appointments and diagnostics to surgical interventions of any complexity. It can help people with cataracts, retinal detachments, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, eye injuries and other pathologies. Modern diagnostic equipment allows us to record changes in eye pathology with micron-scale accuracy. Microsurgical interventions are performed on an outpatient basis and help improve vision in a short time.

The team of ophthalmic surgeons at Dobrobut Clinic is headed by a married couple - MD, Professor Andrii Sergienko and PhD, Victoria Sergienko. Professor Sergienko has been developing the field of treatment of retinal diseases and rare eye pathologies for 35 years. He has performed more than 30 thousand surgeries on three continents: Europe, Asia and Africa, where he is invited not only to treat patients but also to train local doctors. Andrii Mykolaiovych comes from a medical dynasty. His father, academician Mykola Sergienko, studied optics and physiology of vision, founded and trained a school of national microsurgeons, working at the Kyiv Center for Eye Microsurgery, to which his son also devoted 25 years.

In total, the new clinic's team includes 8 doctors who consult and operate. They will involve colleagues from other medical areas of Dobrobut, such as neurosurgeons, endocrinologists, cardiologists, and oncodermatologists. Thanks to a multidisciplinary approach, Dobrobut Ophthalmology Clinic specialists will be able to provide care to patients with complex and rare eye diseases.

We see more patients with eyelid inflammation and hemorrhages in the eye. The number of lens replacement surgeries has increased: people have begun to make quicker decisions about the necessary surgical intervention. We treat many military with eye injuries caused by small metal fragments or blast waves - not all of them, unfortunately, wear tactical glasses. But the war has led to an increase not only in the demand for ophthalmic services, but also in the complexity of the problems patients come with. Collaboration with other Dobrobut doctors will allow us to develop new areas, such as ophthalmogenetics and neuro-ophthalmology, to treat the most complex diseases," says Professor Andriy Sergienko.

During the war, the total investment in the hospital on Mykola Bazhana Avenue amounted to almost UAH 400 million.
