Plastic surgery of congenital unilateral schistasis of the upper lip, nose and alveolar process – unilateral cleft lip.
This surgery is a separate intervention or a stage of a multistage surgery treatment of through unilateral schistasis of the upper lip and nose, when in addition to schistasis of the upper lip, nose and alveolar process a patient has schistasis of the hard and soft palate - cleft lip and cleft palate.
This surgical intervention is performed on a patient with a unilateral schistasis of the upper lip and nose in the operating room under general anesthesia. The operating team includes a surgeon, an assistant and a surgical nurse.
A surgeon with an assistant forms the nasal cavity bottom and nasal vestibule, performs correction of the nasal septum and layer-by-layer plastic surgery of the mucous membrane, orbital muscle and skin using the selected surgery technique regarding schistasis variant and form. The effect lasts for the rest of patient’s life.
Indication: unilateral schistasis of the upper lip, nose and alveolar process (unilateral cleft lip) or through schistasis of the upper lip, nose, alveolar process, hard and soft palate (unilateral cleft lip and cleft palate). In this case this is the first stage of surgery.
Service duration: from 100 to 180 minutes (excluding anesthesia).
The service has age restrictions: child’s age is from 3 months, child’s weight should be over 5000 grams.
There are no absolute contraindications for the procedure: relative contraindications are severe cardiovascular and CNS disorders.
Clinical examinations to be provided no later than two weeks before surgery.
