During the first examination, the doctor:

The doctor also asks how the baby behaved immediately after birth and what grade he\she received on the Apgar scale;
• 2. examines the baby with determining weight and making all necessary measurements, assesses the condition of the skin, head, symmetry, pharynx and chest. The doctor also assesses the child's muscle tone, reflexes and flexibility;
• 3. teaches mother about caring for a baby (feeding, sleeping, normal development, signs of illness, etc.), preventing dangerous conditions, as well as assesses the baby accessories (stroller, crib and other important items) bought by the parents.

The first examination of a newborn is usually the longest, because a doctor needs to gather complete information about the young mother, baby, their health status and living conditions.
