Pneumonography (Digital X-ray)

Digital X-ray is a painless, safe and fast way to diagnose diseases of the respiratory system. Lung X-ray can be prescribed as a preventive examination. Radiography of lungs does not require preliminary preparation. Before the examination, a patient should take off the metal jewelry from the neck and chest and undress to the waist. A patient stands in front of the screen of the X-ray machine, while the lower part of the body is covered with a special lead apron, which significantly reduces the radiation exposure. The lung X-ray can be performed in two projections, i.e. direct (when a patient is facing the screen) and lateral. X-ray in two projections may be needed to diagnose pneumonia, tuberculosis, pneumothorax, heart disease as well as to clarify the location and size of lung tumors.

X-ray is prescribed if ambiguous fluorography data are obtained or with such symptoms:

cough (especially long-term and unproductive);
shortness of breath;

retrosternal pain;
pain in the area of the shoulder blades;

general weakness, fever.

X-ray of the lungs allows accurate diagnosis of the following diseases:

pneumonia (pneumonia);
pleurisy (inflammation of the pleura);
emphysema of the lungs;

pulmonary edema;
tears of lung tissue;
pneumothorax (accumulation of air in the pleural cavity);

accumulation of fluid in the lungs;
tuberculosis;
bronchial asthma;
tumors (including lung cancer).
