A tumor of the bladder is a common condition. In men, this disease is diagnosed three times more often than in women. Treatment of oncological diseases of the bladder is complex, that is, it includes surgery, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy. Now practicing urological oncologists in Ukraine use all the possibilities for carrying out organ-preserving surgeries.
Transurethral resection (TUR) of the bladder is a surgical procedure to diagnose (biopsy) and remove any growths in the bladder. This surgical intervention is rightfully considered one of the most modern, effective, and safe for the patient. In terms of effectiveness, such an operation is in no way inferior to a cavity one, and a short recovery period and a minimal risk of postoperative complications make transurethral resection the gold standard in the treatment of superficial bladder tumor processes. The operation is performed for both men and women.
TUR of the bladder is performed under general anesthesia and begins with gently inserting a lubricated resectoscope into the urethra and examining it. Next, the instrument is advanced into the bladder and filled with sterile saline, which allows a good examination of it. The resectoscope has a special loop in its structure for removing neoplasms and surrounding tissues. After the stage of resection, the surgeon coagulates the vessels using a high-frequency current, which prevents bleeding. Large formations are removed piece by piece to facilitate evacuation. At the end of the operation, the resectoscope is removed, and a catheter is inserted into the bladder through the urethra. All received materials are sent to the laboratory for histological examination.
The duration of the operation on average takes from 1.5 to 2 hours.
The cost of TUR bladder surgery is individual in each case and depends on the level of complexity. The price of surgery in the Dobrobut clinic in Kyiv also includes preoperative preparation, the procedure and consumables, and the patient's stay in the clinic.
