Call-center

TSH is the main regulator of all thyroid functions. TSH is produced by the pituitary gland, a small gland located in the lower part of the brain. Its task is to constantly regulate the processes of obtaining energy in the human body.

When thyroid hormone levels are too low, more thyroid hormone (TSH) is produced, and when too high, the opposite is true. Deviations of indicators in any direction from the norm indicate the incorrect functioning of the thyroid gland.

In the medical center of reproduction "Dobrobut", you can take TSH tests at an affordable price. A comfortable clinic in Kyiv is equipped with modern equipment that allows you to get reliable examination results.

TSH analysis: when to take

At the consultation, an endocrinologist can prescribe a TSH test for you. Due to the malfunctioning of the thyroid gland, diseases develop that require timely treatment, and TSH analysis will allow you to see a complete picture of the patient's health and identify pathologies (if any) in time.

  • severe weakness, lethargy, apathy;
  • depressive state;
  • fast fatigability;
  • low blood pressure;
  • hair loss.

Such signs may indicate hypothyroidism - a quantitative decrease in the production of thyroid hormones. If therapy is ignored, a severe form of the disease will soon develop - myxedema, and this is fraught with heart failure, convulsive syndrome, and even coma.

You should come to a consultation with an endocrinologist if you notice the following symptoms:
  • increased heart rate;
  • anxiety, excitement;
  • causeless anxiety and panic attacks;
  • sudden weight loss;
  • prolonged lack of sleep.

These are all obvious signs of hyperthyroidism (overproduction of thyroid hormones). In advanced cases, the disease becomes severe - thyrotoxic crisis, which poses a great threat to human life.

What can disrupt the production of thyroid-stimulating hormones

Failures in the synthesis of important hormones lead to:
  • severe concussions of the brain, as well as severe blood loss;
  • neoplasms in the pituitary gland;
  • hypothalamic-pituitary insufficiency;
  • difficult childbirth;
  • abortions.

Thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) and pregnancy

Often, expectant mothers have markedly reduced TSH levels. However, throughout the entire period of bearing a baby, the norms of the hormone content will change. Usually, in the first trimester, TSH analysis shows very low results.

The decrease in TSH is due to an increase in the level of hCG, the main pregnancy hormone, which, among other functions, is also responsible for stimulating the thyroid gland. As a result, the thyroid gland begins to function much more actively, produces more hormones. The pituitary gland understands this and tries to release less TSH into the blood. All this is characteristic of the proper course of pregnancy and the development of the embryo.

But there are situations when the hormonal status during pregnancy changes unevenly and hCG has such a strong effect on the thyroid gland that TSH drops to 0.1 mU. This can lead to the diagnosis of gestational hyperthyroidism. It does not require treatment, but the pregnant woman should be under the strict supervision of an endocrinologist.

If the examination showed a high level of TSH in the first stages of pregnancy, as a rule, drugs are prescribed that normalize metabolism, as well as tissue growth.

If a woman plans to become a mother soon and has a genetic predisposition to various thyroid diseases, it is imperative to consult an experienced endocrinologist.

TSH analysis in Kyiv: rules for preparing for the examination

Donate blood to determine the level of thyroid-stimulating hormones should be on an empty stomach (it is important to withstand from 8 to 12 hours of fasting), in the morning after a full and high-quality sleep. It is allowed to drink clean water without gas.

For the results to be accurate, you need to follow the basic recommendations:

  • a few days before the scheduled TSH analysis, give up too spicy, fatty, and fried foods, alcoholic beverages;
  • avoid stress factors and physical overstrain;
  • refrain from cigarettes (at least a couple of hours before donating blood);
  • reschedule the examination to the next time if you have recently had an x-ray or are attending physical therapy.

TSH analysis: how is it done

If the doctor has asked you to take a TSH test, don't worry. The procedure allows you to assess the state of health and identify even the most minor changes in the work of the pituitary gland, thyroid gland, and quickly eliminate them. When testing for TSH, a standard procedure for taking blood from a vein is performed. The object of this study is blood serum. A person diagnosed with various abnormalities in the functioning of the thyroid gland is strongly recommended to check the level of TSH twice a year.

It is better to do this at approximately the same time of the year and in the same clinic, since medical centers may use different equipment, reagents, and methods.

You can take TSH tests in Ukraine in our network of reproductive health clinics "Dobrobut". The affordable cost of the examination makes it possible for each person to timely undergoes a study to identify the level of the TSH hormone and understand the state of his health.
