Videoanoscopy is a modern highly informative diagnostic method, with the help of which the rectal area is examined.

When should you perform a video anoscopy?

Videoanoscopy is recommended to be performed in the following cases:

discharge from the rectum (blood, pus, or mucus);
suspicion of neoplasm of the rectum;

pain in the rectal area;
the inflammatory process in the anal canal, rectum, and anus;

disturbances in the normal functioning of the intestine (constipation or diarrhea);

preventive examination of diseases of the anus, after 45 years;
taking a diagnostic biopsy or smears.

What are the contraindications for conducting research?

There are no absolute contraindications to videoanoscopy, but there are several relative contraindications:

the burn is caused by harsh chemicals;
inflammatory diseases (Crohn's disease, thrombosis of hemorrhoids, paraproctitis);
the diameter of the anal ring or the rectum itself is reduced.

How to prepare for the study?

Before the video anoscopy, exclude gas-forming foods (vegetables, fruits, fermented milk products, juices, and soda) from the diet.

Before the procedure, a cleansing enema is performed in several ways:

using an enema - in the evening on the eve of the study and in the morning 2 hours before the study;
the use of microclysters (rectal laxatives) - a few hours before the study.

In the morning, you can easily have breakfast, excluding gas-forming products from the diet.

The main condition for the study is the complete emptying of the rectum.

How is videoanoscopy performed?

Videoanoscopy is performed under local anesthesia using an anesthetic gel and is completely painless. The duration of the study is about 5-10 minutes.

For the study, a special tool with a built-in video device (anoscope) is used, which allows you to visualize the area of interest on the screen. During the study, the anoscope is inserted into the anus, after which a visual assessment of the rectal mucosa is carried out in a circle, immersing the anoscope to the required depth.

This technique is carried out not only for diagnostic purposes but also in some cases with therapeutic (infrared or electrocoagulation, sclerotherapy, local administration of anesthetic, a biopsy from formations).
