The Dobrobut Medical Network has become a finalist in the international “Partnership for Sustainability Award 2024”, an annual initiative of the UN Global Compact in Ukraine. The project “For Those Who Save: Psychological Rehabilitation of the Hospitallers” was recognized in the “Peace” category.

Dobrobut launched a social initiative to support the mental health of military medics in the summer of 2024. As part of the project, the team from Dobrobut’s Mental Health Center — experienced in working with military personnel, veterans, and former prisoners of war — provides free psychological treatment to medics from the volunteer battalion Hospitallers. The program offers 300 hours of therapy sessions with psychologists and psychiatrists. Currently, 26 Hospitallers have already joined the program.

During the project’s implementation, the Dobrobut team also identified a need for psychological support for the children of paramedics, who suffer stress due to their parents' absence and constant fear for their safety. Therefore, Hospitallers’ children now also have access to the necessary support. At present, 2 children are undergoing psychological rehabilitation at Dobrobut.

“We are very grateful to the organizers for this award. It’s important for us not only to be heard but also to draw attention to critical social issues in Ukraine. Given the challenges Ukrainians have faced in recent years, mental health is more crucial than ever. That’s why in 2024 we opened the Dobrobut Mental Health Center. We also recognize that the psychological well-being of our military personnel needs special attention. As a socially responsible medical business, we decided to help and reached out to the Hospitallers, with whom we share a long-standing partnership. Since the full-scale invasion, more than 60 paramedics have received treatment at Dobrobut. I believe our doctors will help improve the psychological state of our military medics,” says Vadym Shekman, CEO of the Dobrobut Medical Network.

According to a 2023 study by Gradus Research Company, psychological support ranks among the top five needs of Ukrainian military personnel. In the future, it will be particularly needed by soldiers aged 18 to 30. The Ministry of Health of Ukraine reported over 12,000 registered cases of PTSD patients in 2023 — four times more than in 2021. Therefore, psychological rehabilitation for our military is essential to help them overcome mental trauma and return to normal life.
