Colon cancer is a dangerous disease that requires the serious and integrated treatment. The disease is insidious as it can have no symptoms at early stages. It can begin at any age, however, usually colon cancer is diagnosed at the age of 45–75 years. The peak of the disease is at the age of 50–75 years.
Regular screening is necessary to timely reveal the oncological disease. Many countries offer a regular screening program for the people over 45 to reveal polyps and colorectal cancer at an early stage. Early colorectal cancer shows no symptoms. It is proven that polyps can become malignant over time.
The screening program usually includes Fecal Immunochemical Test (FIT) and colonoscopy. A colorectal tumor can give a small amount of blood that cannot be seen by the unaided eye.
During the colonoscopy an endoscopic tube is inserted into the intestine that allows a doctor to examine the segmented intestine and the rectum to reveal polyps or other colorectal tumors. Screening is recommended for men and women at the age from 45 to 74. The screening program takes into account the FIT test result and colonoscopy for the people with the positive FIT result and over the certain age.
Preparation for videocolonoscopy is required.
The duration of the first visit to a doctor for a consultation is 60 minutes. The program shall remain in effect for 1 month from the moment of payment.
