On November 5 and 7, open blood donation days will be held at the “Dobrobut” medical and diagnostic centers in Kyiv. On these days, everyone willing will be able to donate blood and its components to support Ukrainian medical institutions treating sick and wounded military personnel and civilians.
The campaign is organized by the “Dobrobut” medical network together with “Blood Agents,” the Kyiv Regional Blood Center, the Armed Forces Blood Center, and with the support of the healthy sweets brand “Ravlyk Bob” and the craft bakery Bakehouse.
This is the second joint initiative of “Dobrobut” and “Blood Agents.” In the summer of 2025, on World Blood Donor Day, 116 people participated in the open donation, giving a total of 52 liters of blood. These supplies helped meet the needs of nearly 350 patients.
According to WHO recommendations, 33 people per 1,000 population should donate blood. In Ukraine, there has always been a shortage of donor blood, and before the war, this figure ranged from 11 to 13 donors per 1,000 people. Due to the full-scale invasion, the need for donor blood has increased significantly, and it can only be met by a stable base of regular voluntary donors.
Any Ukrainian citizen over 18 years old, without contraindications for donation and weighing at least 50 kg, can become a donor.
Blood can be donated at “Dobrobut” multidisciplinary hospitals from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.:
A passport is required.
“Every drop of donor blood is a chance — not an abstract one, but a very real one: for a child, a wounded defender, or a nearby patient. At ‘Dobrobut,’ we systematically support the culture of voluntary donation and organize Donor Days for employees and everyone willing, because we understand how important timely help is,” said Oleksandra Mashkevych, Chief Medical Director of the “Dobrobut” medical network.
“Donation is an invitation to a social contract of mutual assistance — even a kind of cultural habit — and donors are the true superheroes of our time. They are a very important social capital of the country. I am very glad that the number of organizations in Ukraine that include donation in their corporate social responsibility programs is growing,” said Olena Balbek, founder of “Blood Agents”.
