Dobrobut launches cytogenetic laboratory

The medical network "Dobrobut" has launched its own cytogenetic laboratory. From now on, the full range of tests for determining the karyotype – the human chromosome set – will be performed by "Dobrobut's" own geneticists.

Such expert tests can be prescribed, in particular, to couples with infertility or reproductive losses, children suspected of having chromosomal syndromes, and adolescents with delayed sexual development.

"Previously, we ordered these tests from contractors, but now our own geneticists will handle all stages of the analysis independently. This is a significant step forward for us because we will be able to identify genetic anomalies in a timely manner, which is critically important for early treatment and prevention. Our patients now have access to modern diagnostic methods at a convenient location, without the need to visit specialized laboratories or endure long wait times," said Lydia Podkopayeva, the operational director of the multi-profile hospital "Dobrobut" on Idzykivskykh Street, 3.

The cytogenetic laboratory is headed by Viktoria Badyuk. She is a member of the European Association of Cytogeneticists and the European Association of Reproductive Medicine and Embryology, a candidate of medical sciences, and an associate professor at the Department of Laboratory Diagnostics of Biological Systems at the National University "Kyiv-Mohyla Academy". She has 22 years of experience in the field and specializes in laboratory diagnostics and genetic counseling. Her scientific work focuses on the diagnosis of chromosomal and other genetic anomalies in children, adults, fetuses, and in cases of reproductive loss.

She is the author of over 40 scientific papers on cytogenetics, embryology, and prenatal screening.

This summer, the medical network "Dobrobut" opened two of its own diagnostic laboratories in its multi-profile hospitals located at 3 Idzykivskykh Street and 12A Mykola Bazhan Avenue.

Patients can have tests done at all "Dobrobut" medical centers.
