Registration of electrocardiography (ECG) standard in 12 leads and interpretation

Electrocardiography is performed in 12 leads:

• Three standard (also called polar): left and right hands; left leg and right arm; left arm and leg.
• Three reinforced (unipolar): aVR (from the right hand), aVL (from the left hand), aVF (from the left leg).
• Six unipolar chest leads: V1-V6.

After the location of the electrodes, the gain is selected for each channel of the cardiograph. This is followed directly by the registration of the ECG. The patient should breathe calmly and not move. In some cases, you need to hold your breath for 15 seconds - at the individual request of the doctor. You will not feel any discomfort and even more pain during the ECG. The procedure itself will take a maximum of 10 minutes. 12-lead ECG interpretation - comparison of reference values ​​​​with the results obtained. The specialist takes into account everything: amplitude, direction, the width of the main teeth. The U-wave is also taken into account - usually, it is hardly noticeable on the electrocardiogram.
