The alcohol withdrawal syndrome or the hangover effect are the conditions of psychic or physical discomfort that include the pattern of disorders appearing after cessation of regular alcohol consumption amid a pronounced attraction to it.
Emergency medical aid is provided by an emergency aid team of Dobrobut clinic chain 24 hours a day, regardless of the place of residency and registration.
The service includes:
- health team visit (doctor, paramedic, driver) on a specially equipped car;
- doctor’s examination, assessing the possibility of home treatment, drafting of a written opinion;
- ECG performing and reading;
- treatment of a patient according to the approved Treatment Protocols – assignment of fluid therapy to suppress intoxication, restore water-electrolytic balance, correction of neurologic symptoms, and treatment of a comorbidity;
- recommendations on further treatment;
- admission to a specialized hospital due to medical necessity.
An emergency medical aid team does not attend the patients in the following cases:
- a drinking period lasts more than 1 week;
- acute psychosis (psychomotor agitation, aggression, hallucinations, suicidal thoughts or suicide attempts in the past).
