A sign of skin cancer (basal cell and squamous cell) can be a pink spot or nodule, sometimes with ulceration on the surface that does not heal, or the appearance of a scar-like formation without prior skin injury.
To diagnose melanoma, the acronym ACORD is used (A - asymmetry (conditional axis divides the mole into 2 unequal halves), K - edge (uneven edge), O - color (color changes or unevenness), P - size (diameter over 6 mm), D - dynamics (ulceration, bleeding)) and the rule of the ugly duckling, which is based on the fact that most normal moles on the body of each person are similar to each other, while melanoma is significantly different from others, like an ugly duckling.
