Violation of the integrity of the tooth enamel leads to the penetration of pathogenic microflora into the tooth. Also, internal tissues become susceptible to environmental influences. The task of the dentist is to remove damaged tissue and restore the internal integrity of the dental crown. After preparation, the cavity should be sealed; for this, a filling is used.

When to put a filling

If the earlier filling was limited to purely functional restoration of the integrity of the dental crown, then the standards of modern dentistry require the maintenance of the aesthetic component. The physician must seal the unit in such a way that it is functional again and remains aesthetically pleasing. Ideally, it should not be visible to prying eyes. A tooth filling can be placed on the crown part of the tooth, and in the case of pulpitis treatment, the root canals of the teeth are filled.

A well-installed filling will last for several years, withstanding a regular chewing load.

The following situations are considered indications for dental filling:

  • if the previously installed seal was damaged, or there is a suspicion of a loose fit, violation of adhesion;
  • identification of the formation of a carious cavity with damage to the enamel or penetration into the dentin layer;
  • if the tooth was injured (fracture, chipping, crack), but the root part was not damaged.
  • A tooth filling differs in price depending on the amount of work used to fill the material.

Contraindications to the installation of a seal

On the one hand, the tooth must regain its integrity. Otherwise, it will not withstand the chewing load and chipping may occur. In case of problems inside the root canals, the filling is also performed to avoid re-penetration of the infection. Despite this, there are cases when placing dental fillings is contraindicated:

  • if the tooth needs to be left “open” so that the patient can use medicated rinses (this is a temporary measure);
  • when an allergic reaction to a specific type of filling material is detected (relative prohibition);
  • bruxism (grinding teeth contributes to the destruction of the filling);
  • increased abrasion of the teeth;
  • destruction has formed under the gum, it cannot be isolated from saliva, access to the affected area is limited;
  • destruction of the crown by over 1/3.
  • In case of significant destruction, a decision is made to remove the unit and further implantation, or prosthetics with an inlay and a crown.

Absolute contraindications in the case of root canal filling are:

Absolute contraindications in the case of root canal filling are:

  • periodontal damage, which does not allow the unit to be preserved;
  • identification of intractable cysts;
  • detection of any neoplasms in the area of the tooth roots.

Relative contraindications: can be resolved if the office is equipped with a dental microscope:

  • obstruction of the root canal;
  • dental canals with severe curvature and branching;
  • longitudinal root fracture;
  • perforation of the canal wall.

Today it is possible to put a seal in Kyiv in most cases. Thanks to modern technical equipment, the specialists of our dental clinic can find acceptable solutions in most cases.

How is the tooth filling procedure going (stages)

The procedure can take place in one session or be multi-stage. Before the tooth is sealed, the dentist will have to go through several preparatory steps.

Dental fillings require a careful study of the working area. In the event of a violation of the technology, the filling material will not fix properly.

  1. It is necessary to get rid of damaged tissues, weakened areas, and formation of caries. If this is done poorly, pathogenic bacteria will remain under the seal and continue the destructive activity, and a relapse will develop. In the case of pulpitis, the affected pulp is removed from the pulp chamber and root canals.
  2. The work surface must remain dry. Cotton swabs, saliva ejectors, latex pads are used.
  3. The cavity cleared with boron is treated with an antiseptic and an acid-containing solution. It is necessary to destroy pathogenic bacteria inside the tooth and ensure high-quality adhesion of the filling material and the tissues of the crown or canal. The etchant is kept for 30 seconds, after which the cavity is rinsed and thoroughly dried with a stream of air.
  4. Preparation of material for filling. The seal can be installed temporarily, covering the drug, or it can be permanent. The latter is a durable compound that can last up to 20 years.
  5. The doctor carefully ramps the paste inside the tooth cavity, allowing it to harden. Afterward, for a comfortable occlusion, the established filling is grinded to the usual bite level.

Filling of teeth in Kyiv at the MC Dobrobut dental clinic can be planned or urgently. Since an emergency treatment involves acute pain, a temporary filling with a drug is placed in this case.

Types of dental fillings

All fillings available for installation on a tooth are classified according to several criteria: duration of the period; place of use; composition of the material; curing method.

Temporary and permanent. The former is used for diagnostics and treatment, the latter is used to restore the functionality and integrity of the tooth.

  1. For crowns and root canals.
  2. For hardening - light, and chemical.
  3. By material: metal, cement, based on composites, from photopolymers and compomers, from ceramics.
  4. Fillings based on cement and metal amalgams are the cheapest solutions that are rarely found in practice.

Composites and photopolymers are durable, aesthetic fillings that are popular with patients.

Compomer and ceramic fillings are the most durable, invisible on the teeth, and the most expensive of all possible materials.

What are the consequences of a poor-quality seal installation?

If for some reason, the filling in dentistry was installed with violations of technology, the tooth will soon bother you again. The reasons may be:

  • an infection from the outside that has penetrated under the filling because of a violation of adhesion and the formation of gaps;
  • not completely cleaned carious tissues.

The development of recurrent caries will cause the tooth to ache again. But if the tooth is already dead, then the infection will develop asymptomatically until it reaches the periodontium. In this case, the consequences may be more serious - a focus of inflammation will develop near the periosteum.

Care for fillings

If the modern dental filling was used, then the care of the fillings will not differ from the standard daily procedure. Cleaning 2-3 times a day, preferably with a soft brush without the use of pastes with abrasive elements.

The filling is completely completed after 48 hours, even for materials with a light type of hardening.

Even if our doctor-approved meals and drinks immediately after the visit, care should be taken with the filling over the next few days.

  • For example, composites can soften with alcohol.
  • The filling may become stained with food pigments.
  • Solid and viscous products contribute to deformation immediately after the installation of the material.
  • Sudden changes in temperature in the oral cavity can disrupt the adhesion of the material to the walls of the tooth.

The specialists of the MC Dobrobut clinic advise avoiding coloring products and snacks that can harm the coating until the material finally adapts to the teeth.

How much does it cost to put a seal in Kyiv

The patient needs to understand how much the filling service will cost. The price for filling teeth in Kyiv is formed from the cost of the material, the category of the specialist, and related manipulations.

You can find out the specific amount at the consultation after the diagnostic results. Make an appointment by phone or on the website of the MC Dobrobut clinic.
