Skin problems are rather widespread. Many factors influence state and health of the skin: malnutrition that results in microelement and vitamin deficiency, stresses, environmental issues, weak immunity. Various pathogenic microorganisms also cause the diseases of this organ.
Some skin diseases are the consequences of other major illnesses often accompanied with additional symptoms pointing to a disease. For example, such a disease as psoriasis is accompanied with arthritis in 20 % of the cases. Skin problems may emerge together with various systemic diseases as pancreatic diabetes or hyperthyreosis. Skin also suffers in the result of chronic body intoxication or autoimmune processes.
The task of a dermatologist is to perform diagnostics of skin diseases (nail, hair and mucous membrane diseases included), to detect the cause of the problems, to prescribe an effective treatment and to inform on the measures to prevent the disease in future.
